How are ceramic tiles made?

Ceramic tiles are made through a precise and time-tested process that combines natural raw materials, craftsmanship, and technology. The process starts with a mix of clay, sand, and other minerals, which are ground into a fine powder. This powder is then pressed into the desired tile shape using a high-pressure mold. Once formed, the tiles are dried to remove any remaining moisture.

After drying, the tiles are fired in a kiln at extremely high temperatures, typically between 1,000°C and 1,250°C. This process hardens the tiles, making them durable and giving them their final strength. Before or after firing, tiles can be glazed, depending on the desired finish. Glazed tiles have a smooth, often glossy surface, while unglazed tiles have a more natural, matte finish.
